Itinerary of 7 Days Tour from Marrakech
Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley [325 km]
Our journey starts with your private driver meeting you at your riad or hotel to begin a picturesque drive through the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi N-Tichka pass, reaching an impressive 2260 meters. En route, we’ll pause at panoramic viewpoints to see the stunning mountain landscapes. Our first major stop is Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site and iconic ksar in the Ounila Valley. This ancient fortified village showcases traditional southern Moroccan architecture, with winding streets and clay-brick buildings adorned with intricate motifs. After exploring Ait Ben Haddou, we’ll enjoy a delightful lunch. We’ll visit Ouarzazate, famed for its film studios (optional visit), before proceeding to Kelaat M’gouna, renowned for its rose production. Finally, we’ll reach Dades, where you’ll spend the night in a cozy hotel or Kasbah amidst the rugged beauty of the Dades Valley.
Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga Desert [255 km]
After a delicious breakfast, we journey towards the Dades Gorge en route to the Merzouga Desert, passing through scattered Berber villages like Tinjdad and Erfoud, marking the beginning of the Saharan oasis of Tafilalet. Upon arrival in Merzouga, we’ll take a moment to relax before meeting our camels for an unforgettable desert adventure. Day 3: Merzouga Desert – Ziz Valley – Azrou – Ifrane – Fes [476 km]
After breakfast, we head north through the expansive palm grove of Tafilalet, renowned as the largest in the world. It stretches 20 kilometers and has thousands of palm trees. Continuing this route leads us to the Ziz Valley, where the river flows from the High Atlas Mountains, nourishing the palm grove below. At a scenic viewpoint near Aoufous, we pause to admire the sweeping vistas of the valley and city below.
Our journey proceeds with a stop in Midelt, known as the (Apple Capital) nestled in the heart of the Atlas Mountains, where we have time for lunch and to explore. Continuing southward, we pass through several cities, catching glimpses of nomadic tents. Our next stop is Azrou, renowned for its expansive cedar forest, the largest in Morocco, where we can interact with friendly Barbary apes.
Next, we visit Ifrane, often called Morocco (Little Switzerland) due to its clean streets, well maintained gardens, and distinctive architecture. Situated at an elevation of 1630 meters, Ifrane boasts wide avenues and is home to the Michlifen ski resort, making it a unique blend of Moroccan charm and alpine aesthetics. From here, our journey continues towards Fes, enriched by the sights and experiences of Morocco’s diverse landscapes and cultural treasures.
Day 4: Fes Sightseeing with a Local Guide
After breakfast, your local guide will reveal the hidden gems of Fes, guiding you through the labyrinthine alleys of the old medina. Explore the bustling souks filled with traditional crafts, narrow cobblestone streets lined with ancient mosques, and iconic green-tiled minarets soaring above.
