Tour Itinerary of 10 days from Tangier

The following is the tour itinerary for the 10 days from Tangier:

Day 1: Tangier » Tetouan » Chefchaouen [112 Km]

You will meet your guide at the Port or Airport to start your desert trip toward Chefchaouen. On your way, you will cross the Rif Mountains and enjoy the incredible views from this mountain chain.

When we get to Chefchaouen, you will have a free afternoon to discover this beautiful blue and white overnight in a local rig or hotel.

Day 2: Chefchaouen » Volubilis » Meknes » Fes [277 km]

In the morning, we will depart for Fez, passing through many villages in the Rif mountains. Then, we will continue to drive to Volubilis. This archaeological site features the best-preserved Roman ruins in northern Africa and has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1997.

We head to Meknes, where we will visit the famous gates of Bab el-Mansour and Moulay Ismail Tombs. After lunch, we will drive to Fes. Overnight, we will stay in a local Riad in the Medina.

Day 3: Fes Sightseeing Tour with a local guide

Today, we will explore the oldest city in Morocco. We will walk its alleys and small streets and visit places like the Royal Palace Gate, the Jewish headquarters.

We will visit the famous Al Karaouine University, the oldest in the region, the Tanneries, the Attarine museum, and the Moulay Idriss mausoleum. We will stay overnight in the medina.

Day 4: Fes » Azrou cedar forest » Midelt » Merzouga [469 km]

Today, we pass through Ifrane (a winter ski resort built by the French in the 1930s that resembles a Swiss village). We drive across the Middle Atlas Mountains, and most of the morning will be spent enjoying the beautiful forests, jagged rock faces, and Berber villages as we cross them.

Then, we stopped for lunch in Midelt, famous for its fossils and apples. We continue to Merzouga via Ziz Valley and Erfoud, the capital of the dates. We will stay in a local hotel near the dunes in the afternoon.

Day 5: Merzouga (Camel trek & Overnight) [45 km]

Continuing our adventure, you’ll start exploring the area after a luxurious breakfast. You’ll visit the Gnawa people in their village Khamlia, where you will learn about Gnawa music and their lifestyle.

Afterward, we’ll drive through the Sahara desert, where we can meet nomad families still living in Berber tents made from the wool of their animals, our lunch will be a local meal (Berber pizza). After that, we will drive back to our Hotel, where your camel will be waiting for you, guided by an experienced camel man.

The camel ride takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes to arrive at the camp, where you will spend the night. Enjoy the sunset and watch the stars in the middle of the highest dunes. Dinner will be served there.

Day 6: Merzouga » Jerf » Todgha Gorges » Dades Valley [269 km]

Your camel man will wake you up early in the morning to watch what may be the best sunrise in your life, and then you’ll peacefully camel-trek back to the village.

On the road, you won’t fail to appreciate the unique beauty of the spectacular Erg Chebbi dunes – changing with the light as the day progresses. After breakfast and shower in the Riad, you’ll leave for Rissani, Tinghir, and Todra gorges – Morocco’s highest, narrowest gorges.

After lunch in the heart of the gorge, we’ll drive through the Dades Valley, where you’ll see the majestic sand castles and the amazing rock formations known as “monkey toes”. Overnight in our traditional guest house with dinner and breakfast.

Day 7: Dades valley » Ouarzazate [132 km]

After breakfast in the hotel, you will travel through the Dades Valley toward Kalaa M’gouna and Ouarzazate. The route is the Way of the Thousand Kasbahs, providing numerous opportunities to take some of your best photographic shots of the trip.

Today, you will have the opportunity to meet Berber Nomads in their caves and enjoy the fertile Rose Valley and the rock formations along the way. We’ll stop at Kalaat M’gouna, “the rose city,” to purchase rosewater, which will make your linen smell good for a long time after your trip.

Continuing to Skoura and the Bird’s Valley, you’ll visit the Kasbah Amridil, a well-preserved Kasbah in this area. After that, we will spend the Afternoon in Ouarzazate, “the Hollywood of Africa,” and the night in a Local Hotel or Riad.

Day 8: Ouarzazate » Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah » Marrakech [196 km]

Today we’ll continue our journey to Marrakech, one of the four imperial cities in Morocco. We will have a small stop to visit or to take pictures of the movie studios of Ouarzazate. On our way to Marrakech, we will visit Aït Ben Haddou old Kasbah (UNESCO as a world heritage).

Then, we’ll continue toward Marrakech. On our way, we’ll pass the highest road pass in North Africa. We’ll arrive in Marrakech in the afternoon.

Day 9: Marrakesh Sightseeing with a Local guide

Today, your local guide will arrive at your Hotel or Riad around 9 a.m. to start exploring the highlights of Marrakech: Koutoubia Mosque, Saadian tombs, El Bahia Palace, Djemaa el Fna square, and its souk …

After lunch, we will take you by car to visit Majorelle Garden and then return you to your hotel.

Day 10: Transfer to the airport

You will be transferred to the airport to catch your flight depending on your flight time. This is where the 10-day Morocco tour from Tangier ends.
